David Lamont joined The Bleakley Bavol Law Firm in September, 2011 and brought with him more than 23 years' experience as a Florida litigator. Since 1998, his practice has been dedicated almost exclusively to the statewide representation of employers and carriers in workers compensation matters at trial and on appeal, with extensive experience in the representation of self-insured and large deductible employers, staffing companies, employee leasing companies, nursing homes, construction industry companies, and the retail industry. He believes that it is critical that the unique features of a particular employer or industry's business be accounted for when defending a workers’ compensation claim and encourages his clients to participate actively in all aspects of the claim and litigation process.

Lamont is a 1984 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Tampa with a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and a 1987 graduate from Stetson University College of Law. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1988 and is also admitted to the Middle and Northern Districts of the United States District Court of Florida. He has presented oral argument to the Florida Supreme Court, First District Court of Appeal, and Second District Court of Appeal on a variety of issues. He is a Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent™ Peer-Review Rated lawyer and is a member of the Workers Compensation Section of the Florida Bar. He has assisted employers in workers’ compensation renewals as well as in developing loss control, loss prevention, and return-to-work programs. Lamont also served on the faculty of the Stetson University College of Law’s annual "Legal Issues In the Construction Industry", presenting the section on workers’ compensation issues. Once active in legislative matters, he authored 2003 legislative changes to the Florida workers’ compensation drug defense laws in Florida Statute §440.09(7)(e). Lamont is certified by the Department of Insurance as an instructor for CE 3-24a, 3-24b, 3-24c and 5-620 courses.
