Kristen Allman is formerly Florida Bar Certified in Labor and Employment Law.  She graduated from Florida State University College of Law with honors and three book awards in 1987.  For Kristen, the highlight of law school was interning for then-Florida Supreme Court Justice Rosemary Barkett, now a judge on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  Kristen is also a graduate of the University of Florida where she received her Bachelor of Science, was inducted into Florida Blue Key and was chosen for the U.F. Hall of Fame.

In April 2015, Kristen Allman joined Bleakley Bavol to head up the Firm’s expanding employment law practice.  Kristen has keen insight into labor and employment law from management’s perspective from a variety of vantage points.  First, Kristen is a former Partner/Shareholder with two national employment law firms where she was on the Executive Management Committee at one and the Tampa Office Managing Partner at the other.  Second, Kristen previously worked as Senior Corporate Counsel for a Fortune 100 subsidiary where she oversaw employment law matters for more than 26 different companies.  Most recently, Kristen was Of Counsel with another national employment law firm, Constangy Brooks Smith & Prophete LLC.  Kristen was also an adjunct in the University of South Florida’s Continuing Education program in Employment Law Compliance for more than 18 years. 

Kristen Allman has extensive litigation and counseling experience in all areas of employment law representing primarily private sector employers and non-profits.  She has successfully handled a wide range of litigation matters in federal and state courts in Florida, as well as in other parts of the country, including collective and individual wage-hour actions, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, family and medical leave, disability, ADA Title III, USERRA, workplace violence, breach of contract, defamation, negligent hiring/negligent retention, fraudulent misrepresentation, whistle-blowing, workplace wrongful death, ERISA and commercial claims.  Kristen has also successfully defended businesses before numerous government administrative agencies such as the Wage-Hour Division, EEOC, OSHA and the NLRB.  Kristen is devoted to providing employers with preventive advice and counseling in all aspects of employment law; policy analysis and drafting (including affirmative action plans); training and employment law audits with an emphasis on wage-hour and other compliance issues.  Kristen is a frequent speaker on labor and employment law topics and has been a featured speaker twice at the Society for Human Resource Management’s annual convention.

Kristen is admitted to The Florida Bar, The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.  She has also been admitted pro hac vice in numerous federal courts around the country.

Kristen is a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil certified mediator.  She is involved in numerous professional organizations devoted to human resources and/or employment law.  She is a Cub Scout den leader and is a past board member for the Boys and Girls Club and Junior League of Tampa.
